The locality of Ciudadela or as it was earlier called "Ciutadella" of the Balearic Menorca is a municipality placed in the western side of the island of Menorca. It has a population of almost 30,000 inhabitants distributed though the 186 squared kilometers of this municipality. It used to be the old capital of the Island of Menorca.

Ciudadela used to be the old capital of Menorca, specifically until the british invasion of 1714. During past centuries, it was denominated in many ways, such as Jamma, Iamo, Iamona, and Medina Minurka, but during the Conquest of Alfonso III his choice of Menorca beat them all.

In actuality, Ciudadela is a city that lives facing the sea and it's port, protected from the Tramontana winds. This is the city you must direct to if you are trying to catch a boat to Mallorca.

On the other hand, we must not forget to mention that Ciudadela is a touristy city that through it's beaches, coves, natural spaces and urban spaces has made it's wealth.
