The municipality of Villacarlos in Menorca, also known as Es Castell, is the most eastern municipality of the island, the archipelago and of Spain. It is the first place that sees the sun in the morning in our country. It's distance is of 11 squared kilometers, in which 8,000 people reside.

Villacarlos has a rich history as it is the main entrance to the Natural Port of Mahón. It is the place where all the towns settled to build fortresses to defend themselves from the turks, or from Pirates such as Barbaroja. In the XVI century Villacarlos or Es Castell, was one of the most important cities on the island, since most battles took place in it's waters and port. A time later the british, french and spanish took control of the island. Today it still holds close ties to those battles and historic moments.
