The island of Menorca is one of the main islands of the Balearic Islands. It is located in the the northeast of Mallorca, the main island. It has a surface of 700 square kilometers, and a population of 90,000. Minorca is sun, beach, and above all and idealic location to enjoy your free time. The name Menorca originates from the word Menorica, meaning smaller than Mallorca. It is an island situated in the northeastern part of the balearic archipelago, and it´s capital is Mahón. In Minorca they speak two languages, castilion and Menorquin, which derives from the catalán language.

Of it´s history we must point out the continuous battles of the french and the british as well as the crown of aragon to gain control. These battles stopped in the XVI century. Before that, this island was inhabited by the phoencians, later the carteginians, romans, and in our time the arabs. All this occured before the entrance of the christians under the ruling of Jaime I. During this time period the british and french travelled through, yet were never able to settle here.

Nowadays Menorca lives off the tourism. It has many sport activities to choose from and has plenty of activities for you to enjoy nature at its fullest. You also have different ports to choose from that make it easy for you to travel to the other islands of the archipelago and Iberian Peninsula. But above all, it´s beautiful climate and beaches are what bring tourism in from all parts of the world.

It´s an island formed by 8 municipalities, in which we highlight Mahon, the capital, Ciudadela, the old capital and one of the most emblamatic locations of the Island. Villacarlos, was a witness to numerous battles.

To these municipalities we must add others such as San Luis, founded by the french in honor of their king, Alayor; the locality of Es Migion Gran; Ferrerías, and Es Mercadal.
